How Data-Driven Lifting Is Reshaping Plant Performance
Walk into almost any manufacturing facility today and you’ll see automation everywhere—robotics, connected systems, real-time dashboards. But one area evolving just as quickly, often behind the scenes, is material handling. Cranes are no longer just moving loads from point A to point B. They’re becoming data-generating assets that help plants…
What Artemis II Meant for U.S. Manufacturing (And the Supply Chain Behind It)
When Artemis II launched, most eyes were on the astronauts and the mission itself. But what made a program like this possible runs far deeper—through factories, engineering teams, and supply chains that stretched across nearly the entire United States. This mission wasn’t built in one place. It was coordinated across…
Investing in Custom Lifting Equipment for Long-Term Growth
Growth is exciting but it also has a way of exposing the limits of your current systems. A production floor that once felt efficient can start to feel crowded. Loads that used to move smoothly begin to slow things down. Teams develop small workarounds to keep things moving. None of…
Upgrading your ANSI B30.2 1976 Overhead and Gantry Cranes
If your facility is operating overhead or gantry cranes built to ANSI B30.2-1976 standards, now is the time to evaluate an upgrade. Aging crane systems can impact safety, reliability, and compliance, especially as operational demands increase or regulatory requirements evolve. For industries like nuclear, manufacturing, and heavy fabrication, modernization is…
5 Manufacturing Trends Shaping 2026 That Plant Managers Can’t Ignore
Manufacturing in 2026 is being shaped less by breakthrough moments and more by steady pressure—on labor, on output, and on systems that were never designed to carry this much load. For plant managers, the challenge isn’t identifying change. It’s deciding where to respond without overcorrecting. Here are five shifts already…
What High-Risk Industries Get Right About Material Handling
In most manufacturing environments, mistakes are costly. In nuclear, aerospace, and defense, they’re not an option. These industries operate under a different standard—one where material handling systems aren’t just tools for moving loads, but engineered safeguards built into the process itself. Every lift, transfer, and positioning step must perform exactly…
Inside Artemis II: The Role of Precision Lifting in Space-Grade Manufacturing
Artemis II has captured a lot of attention, and understandably so. It represents a major step forward in space exploration, supported by years of engineering, coordination, and manufacturing across a wide network of teams and facilities. At American Crane & Equipment Corporation, programs like this tend to spark a different…
How the Manufacturing Talent Pool Is Expanding and the Role Women Are Playing
Progress in manufacturing doesn’t happen all at once. It builds over time, in who enters the field, who advances and how teams evolve to meet the demands of the work. That’s part of what made Artemis II notable from an industry standpoint. Alongside the technical achievement, the mission marked a…
6 Recommended Upgrades to Overhead and Gantry Cranes Built to ANSI B30.2 1976 Standards
1. Electrical & Control System Upgrades Replace old contactor controls with modern variable frequency drives (VFDs) for smoother acceleration/deceleration and reduced mechanical stress. Upgrade wiring and insulation to meet modern NEC requirements. Add radio remote controls or pendant stations with ergonomic design and emergency stop features. Integrate programmable logic controllers…
Supporting the Nuclear Renaissance: The Role of Custom Overhead Cranes in New Reactor Projects
Nuclear power is having a moment again. After decades of slow growth, the industry is entering what many analysts are calling a nuclear renaissance. Governments are investing heavily in nuclear energy to support grid stability, decarbonization goals, and long-term energy security. In the United States, federal funding and policy support…
