Bar, Plate, and Coil Handling Equipment
The team at American Crane & Equipment Corp. builds high-performance material handling solutions to meet the demands of some of the harshest industries on Earth — clean rooms, shipping facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, and aerospace operations, just to name a few. Our specialty crane and hoist systems are also used in steel rolling mill operations to ensure uninterrupted, reliable service.
Below, we’ve highlighted our coil, bar, and plate handling crane solutions, all of which are specifically designed to withstand severe metalworking environments and offer long-lasting, consistent performance.
Coil, Bar, and Plate Handling Cranes
In addition to rolling mills, our high-performance lifting solutions are employed in various other specialized industrial environments. These cranes must be equipped to precisely and safely handle metal bars, plates, and coils throughout all machining processes.
Coil, bar, and plate handling cranes can be designed for both indoor and outdoor use, typically with a double-girder design. Their electro-mechanical spring applied, electrically released shoe or disc brakes, ensure optimal safety, and they can be outfitted with several unique features, including:
- Rotating trolleys to aid in positioning
- High capacities, ranging from 5 to 550 tons
- Spans ranging from 10.5 to 31.5 meters
- Specialty overhead below-the-hook solutions, such as standard hooks, grabs, magnets, C-hooks, hydraulic tongs, and carrier beams
- Remote-control features including programmable logic controllers, allowing the crane to monitor its own conditions and offering smart features and maintenance alerts, as well as remote and cabin-based control options
- Optional slewing functions
- High-strength, helical or planetary reducers for high precision, efficiency, and heavy duty bearing capacity.
These unique cranes are also equipped with smooth operating motors and are optimized for intermittent, short-term, and frequent starts and braking. They can be crafted with manual, semi-automated, and fully automated functions in both single- and multi-trolley arrangements.
