CM, Coffing & Budgit Hoists Are Now Made by Stuart Rush: Here's What Changes and What Doesn't | American Crane & Equipment Corp

If your maintenance team relies on CM, Coffing, Budgit, or Chester hoists, you may have recently encountered an unfamiliar name: Stuart Rush. Understandably, that raises questions. Are replacement parts changing? Will existing warranties remain valid? Is your equipment still supported?

The short answer is reassuring: this is primarily a change in ownership, not a discontinuation of the products your facility depends on.

What Changed?

When Columbus McKinnon Corporation acquired Kito Crosby, the U.S. Department of Justice required the company to sell its U.S. power chain hoist and chain businesses.

On March 4, 2026, Pacific Avenue Capital Partners completed the purchase and launched the operation as an independent company called Stuart Rush.

Stuart Rush now manufactures and supports Coffing, Budgit, Chester, CM Entertainment, and selected CM product lines. Here's a closer look at the products now made and supported by Stuart Rush:

You can continue ordering all of these products exactly the way you always have, through American Crane & Equipment Corporation.

What Isn't Changing?

For equipment owners, most day-to-day practices remain the same.

The affected products continue to be manufactured at the business's established U.S. facilities. Hoist manufacturing and engineering remain centered in Damascus, Virginia, while chain manufacturing continues in Lexington, Tennessee. Stuart Rush also maintains the product documentation, technical knowledge, and distributor relationships behind these long-established brands.

Stuart Rush has specifically committed to parts continuity for installed equipment. Existing model and part numbers also remain in use, helping maintenance teams identify and order the components they need without rebuilding their asset records from scratch.

The transition does not change your equipment's inspection intervals, maintenance requirements, operating procedures, rated capacity, or duty-cycle limitations. Continue following the manufacturer's documentation for your equipment, along with relevant OSHA requirements and ASME standards.

There has also been no announced cancellation of existing warranty coverage simply because ownership changed. Warranty claims should continue to be handled according to the terms that applied when the equipment was purchased. Your distributor can help confirm coverage and route a claim to the appropriate manufacturer.

Nothing about how you order from American Crane & Equipment Corporation is changing either. Our team and our process stay exactly the same.

What Should Equipment Owners Do?

You do not need to replace equipment, revise preventive-maintenance schedules, or stockpile parts because of the transition. However, this is a good time to confirm that your records include each hoist's model number, serial number, capacity, lift, voltage, and service history. Clear nameplate information makes parts identification and warranty support much faster.

American Crane & Equipment Corporation will continue helping customers source CM, Coffing, Budgit, and Chester equipment and parts while supporting existing hoists throughout their service lives. Our online parts store remains your reliable source for these parts, and nothing about how you shop with us is changing.
